Name crafts are one of the easiest ways to give preschoolers meaningful name practice without it feeling repetitive.
Most kids need a lot of repetition to learn their name. Not just recognizing it, but understanding the order of the letters and building it on their own. And while worksheets can help, adding crafts keeps kids more interested and willing to practice.
This spring caterpillar name craft is a simple way to do that.
Kids build their caterpillar by adding one circle for each letter in their name. When they’re done, they have a finished craft that shows their name crawling across the page.
Each child gets a page with a tree, a caterpillar face, and circle body pieces.
Each circle contains one letter of their name. Their full name is also shown on the tree, which gives them a reference to look at as they work.
Children color the pieces first. Then they cut them out and glue the circles under the caterpillar’s face to build their name in order.
It’s simple, but it gives them a chance to really focus on their letters.
The names are fully editable, which makes prep much faster.
You just type the children’s names into the form, print, and everything is ready.
You can create up to 10 name crafts at once. If you need more, click clear, enter the next set of names, and print again.
