Load up the pumpkin wagons and build a rope for each one! This hands-on fall counting activity gives children practice with number recognition, counting and one-to-one correspondence while strengthening fine motor skills.
To prepare the activity, print and cut out the wagon cards, laminate them for repeated use and punch a hole near each wagon handle. Children will read the number in the top corner, then connect the same number of plastic links to the wagon to create its rope.
Use this activity during math centers, small groups, morning tubs or independent practice. Children can count the links as they add them, then check their work by counting the completed rope one more time.
