Apple Measurement Comparison Activity

Practice early measurement and comparison skills with this simple Apple Comparison Activity! Children will compare the height of an apple to familiar classroom objects and determine which is taller or shorter. It’s a great way to introduce measurement concepts without requiring children to read a ruler or understand standard units of measurement.

Children compare their apple to a marker, crayon, glue stick, block and eraser, then color the picture that matches what they observe.

Included:

  • “Which Is Taller?” recording sheet
  • “Which Is Shorter?” recording sheet
  • Apple comparison poster
  • Teacher instructions

Because apples and classroom supplies can vary in size, children may get different results—and that’s part of the fun! This activity encourages children to observe, compare and use measurement vocabulary such as taller, shorter and height.
