Help children practice recognizing and naming emotions with this Police Officer Feelings Dough Mat. Children will choose an emotion card and use play dough to recreate the matching facial expression on the blank police officer.
While children work, encourage them to name the feeling and talk about how they can tell what the character is feeling. Play dough adds fine motor practice, or children can draw the expression with dry-erase markers after the mat has been laminated.
This activity includes cards for 12 different emotions:
- Mad
- Sad
- Happy
- Sleepy
- Surprised
- Silly
- Annoyed
- Excited
- Worried
- Loved
- Sick
- Calm
Simply print, cut and laminate the mat and cards. Add it to a community helpers theme, feelings unit, calming area or small-group activity.
