Dough Mats
Dough mats are a simple, hands-on way to help build fine motor skills. Children will roll, press and shape the dough onto the mats, strengthening the small muscles in their hands while they do so. These muscles are important for writing and everyday tasks. Dough mats are easy to set up and can be used again and again throughout the school year. They are great for centers, independent work or quiet time.
Supplies needed to make dough mats:
- Dough (store bought or homemade)
- Printed dough mats
- Laminator or sheet protectors
- Scissors or paper trimmer
- Optional tools (rolling pins, cutters, plastic knives)
